CHALICE / food bowl was born with the aim of being "truly gentle on cats," under the supervision of Midori Morioka, Vice Director of Annie Animal Hospital.
The 13cm elevated design alleviates strain on the neck and joints. Every detail is considered so your cat can enjoy their meal in a natural posture. The shallow, gently flared shape of the bowl avoids whisker irritation and reduces regurgitation and spills. It's a vessel whose form seems to embody gentleness to the touch.
Weighing approximately 780g, it stands quietly and stably, unlikely to tip even if a robot vacuum bumps into it. Its smooth porcelain surface is hygienic and less absorbent. Sliding your fingertips across it reveals a smooth, quiet sensation, conveying the purity of the vessel. It's also designed for user convenience, being microwave and dishwasher safe.
Each vessel is finished by skilled artisans at a Mino ware kiln, preserving 1300 years of history. The subtle variations in glaze and firing color mean no two pieces are exactly alike, each possessing unique character and expression. The linear form, stripped of excess, is minimalist yet rich in expression, harmonizing with its surroundings in quiet dignity. The fluctuating patterns of the glaze reflect the quiet flow of time, bringing a subtle spaciousness to the environment.
The colors are 7 Japandi shades that subtly blend with your cat's fur and the atmosphere of your home. They are translucent, soft hues where the shadows of Japan meet the gentle warmth of Scandinavia. Each color possesses a warmth, and each holds a quiet story that resonates with daily life.
